About Wild Woman’s Wolf Pack

This is a blog for people who walk the creative path, and who are feeling the need for companionship along the way.

Here is how it got started:

A few years back, as a mom in my mid to late 30’s, I ran into a terrible case of artist’s block.

From the time I was old enough to grasp a crayon, I was always drawing or painting. First on the walls, then on paper…and then (thanks to tolerant parents) on the walls again. 🙂 My high school classmates voted me Class Artist (although you won’t find it in my senior yearbook;  the honor was stripped as punishment for playing hookey during a pep rally.) I even majored in art in college.

But now, nothing I did seemed worthwhile.

Not only that, but somehow I wasn’t the person I knew myself in my heart to be. I was depressed. I was angry. I felt lost and upset at myself, my loved ones, and whomever else got in my way.

Like so many women in our time and place, I had lost my creative voice.

It felt like something in me had died.

But one day, something happened. A little personal interaction that gave me the hope and strength to pick up and set off in search of what I had lost.

It was the beginning of a journey that is, of course, still in progress.

It’s been a long journey, and an arduous one at times. But the further I go the more magical it becomes.

The name Wild Woman’s Wolf Pack comes from the book, ‘Women Who Run With the Wolves’ by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The ‘Woman’ in the title refers to the feminine creative spirit.

She is there, in each and every one of us. That wild soul who knows no limits, who laughs at fear, who each and every moment gives birth to something new and wonderful.

To know her, to unleash her power within oneself, is to enter a world of freedom and of magic. And—assuming one treads carefully and with discernment—ultimately of limitless joy and oceans of love.

It’s the most natural thing in the world. But it’s pretty hard to get there in isolation.

Like wolves, we creatives are creatures of the pack. Although we draw strength from our solitary ventures into the wilderness, ultimately we need and empower each other.

When you get creative souls together, magical things happen. Personally, I have SO many beautiful souls to thank for their encouragement, example, and inspiration. Without them, I might have never stepped into this life of total creative freedom that I lead today.

And that is what this blog is about. It’s a bringing together of creative souls to inspire, celebrate, and empower each other.

If you are seeking your creative voice, Wild Woman’s Wolf Pack is for you.

If you have found your voice but need support as you begin to make yourself heard, we are for you.

And if you are already singing loud and joyfully, we are here, too, to celebrate with and for you.

This is YOUR blog, YOUR community, YOUR voice. I’m just here to facilitate.

So…if you have an idea for an event, or would like to share your wisdom through a guest post or interview, or have suggestions for how to improve this site, contact me here and let’s make it happen! 🙂

Jai ma,

Christie Michelsen

P.S. While I expect that this community will appeal largely to women, it is not my intention to exclude men. Each one of us, men and women alike, embodies the Wild Woman, as well as her masculine counterpart. So if you happen to be a man, please know you’re welcome too. 🙂
